Skin Care Giveaway + Links to Love

(August 3: Giveaway now closed: thanks to all who entered!)

Hey you guys! Long time no blog, right? I’ve been active on social media but haven’t taken the time to sit down and write some updates on here – so I thought it was time to connect.  A lot has been happening – my mom came up for a visit, I was in a car accident roll-over on a gravel road (me and the babe and all those involved, thankfully not our fault, are 100% fine! But there’s a story to it!), Mikey and I went on a kayak adventure locally, he left for another trip and I went camping with friends… A lot has happened since I last checked in! Plus, besides those life updates, I’ve got a great giveaway coming to you from AlumierMD – I shared about their chemical-free sunscreen in this post, so why don’t we just kick things off with the giveaway?!

The great people at AlumierMD offered to give away a bundle of their face products to my readers, and were very gracious when I asked to try it first so I could also offer my honest review! I will say that this giveaway is open to Canadians only as AlumierMD will ship from them to you within the country and as per the gaming council’s regulations in Quebec, excludes Quebec from the contest, but their products are available in Canada, the US, the UK and Ireland.

The first is the Lotus Scrub, which is a mild exfoliating scrub, and the second is the AluminEye cream.

Okay. You ready for this blend of goodness?! Let’s do it.

Every morning and night, I wash my face with just water. While it’s been working for me, I’ve wondered if I should up my skin care game and have wanted to be more mindful of how I’m treating my skin. In comes the Lotus Scrub to save the day! This scrub contains, as the name denotes, lotus seed powder, and that with the microcrystalline cellulose are formed into small balls (like you’d envision in other exfoliants) to prevent skin irritation and provide it with the calming properties needed to be repaired from external damages like pollution and free radicals. I love that this small beads provide a gentle exfoliation of your skin – it doesn’t feel harsh or too strong – leaves your skin feeling soft, and is fragrance-free, sulfate-free, paraben-free, soap-free, mineral oil-free and dye-free. That’s pretty awesome.

When it comes to the eye cream, I first of all love the pump feature! The lid pops up to pump and is easy to put away too for travel and zero spillage (note that this model is new; the giveaway winner will have the same product but in the older packaging). More than the physical nature of the bottle, however, I appreciate that this product is fragrance-free, sulfate-free, paraben-free, and dye-free – something you can feel so good about putting onto (and therefore into!) your body. The purpose of this product is to reduce dark circles, fine lines and puffiness, and it feels so good when you put it on! A little goes a long way with this product.

I’m loving these products and now use them daily! So to enter the giveaway and get your own, I want to know: What do you use to wash your face? A specific brand, or like me before, nothing?

If you’re interested to browse and check out what AlumierMD has to offer, the best way for you to purchase their products is to send an email to help@alumiermd.com and mention the city you live in. Then, you will then be sent the names of the nearest doctor’s offices or clinics in your area and if you prefer, you can reach out to them to set up an online account for purchasing.

And now, I’ve got some articles worth reading…

Simple Summer Berry Cobbler

I just made this last night and it’s delish post-workout with some Greek yogurt and I can only assume it would be good with some vanilla ice cream for dessert! And I am NOT a good cook or a talented baker – so this truly is a simple and tasty recipe.

(repping lots of 2XU compression re: my socks and pre-natal compression, too!)

Nutritional Strategies for Better Sleep… Girls Gone Strong does it again! I LOVE learning about the value of sleep and even though I don’t always follow my own advice, I enjoy trying to put it into practice because it helps our overall health so, so much.

My new video is posted about why I’m a personal trainer, my training philosophy, and why I work at CityFit! The video is a long, but I think if someone was really hunting for a personal trainer, it answers all their questions.

(Get it?!)

The surprising truth about sugar… Precision Nutrition is always putting out interesting articles that are full of common sense, and this one is worth a read.

How Awe Brings People Together – Makes absolutely sense to me with the trips that we run outside!

(all smiles after some fun times on the river together – being outside sure brings Mikey and I together!)

The Dark Side of Instagram Fitness – could be true for all types of social media!

And that’s all I’ve got for you today, friends! Please enter that giveaway by answering the above question about your personal skin care routine and let me know about any good articles in the comments, too. Live well & be well!
