Cardio Circuit Killer

Hey guys! It’s been a whirlwind of a week but I’m back with some life updates, some insight into my challenges, and a great workout for you! Let’s start off with the updates, shall we?

Life has been…busy. But good! I’ve been going from one client’s home to another client’s home to the gym and home (home). πŸ˜‰ I’m grateful for work although I’m pushing it a bit this week. Tomorrow, for example, I train an at-home client, head to the gym and have 7 clients in.a.row (no break…yikes!) and then have 3 clients after work. Friday is similar, and to be honest I’m a little nervous and exhausted just thinking about it! And I’m officially part of the team at Fifth Avenue Club with my new gear that came in! Check it out:

I’m happy in my new, logo-ed shirts and not stressing about my jam-packed schedule because…

We’re going to CABO SAN LUCAS! Mikey and I are pumped…he’s in Vancouver at the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology where he’s giving 4 different presentations and is ready for a break to say the least! πŸ˜‰ Mikey’s parents gave us their time share (such a blessing and gift!) and we transferred it to Cabo San Lucas where we’re meeting my mom, dad, and brother. I can’t wait to spend some time with the Chalmers (my maiden name)! So after two full days of work I will be relaxing on the beach, exploring the cliffs, and soaking in every moment with my family and Mikey! #stoked

In other updates, I helped out another friend on vacation, Lindsay, with a quick guest post and workout yesterday on her blog! I was so thankful to share some thoughts and a great workout you can take on the road with you – a traveling towel workout! Head over and check it out (video and workout included!).

And now, on with the CARDIO KILLER!Β

20120425 1614341

Try to complete as many rounds as possible in 10 minutes (and if you don’t have a way to time yourself, do the workout with reps: 15 – 20 KB swings, 8 – 10 box jumps, and 50 – 100 jumps depending on your fitness level).

Let me know if you give the workout a shot! I ended up doing this short circuit for 20 minutes and loved it and was breathing hard – here’s my post-workout #PROOF:

While the workouts have been going great, I’ve had a hard time eating clean the past few weeks. It’s not tough for me to get my workouts in, but my challenge comes when I get home after a long day, don’t have any healthy food prepped, and am hungry – so I snack. It’s tough for me to stay on track and that’s been one of my biggest challenges recently. For some people it’s the workouts, for me it’s the food! …what about you?

That and finding time to read my Bible – it’s something I value so much and can noticeably see (and feel!) what a difference in makes in my day, and yet I’ve been on the go and haven’t stopped to spend time with Jesus. I don’t want to use it as an excuse, but I am looking forward to time away so I can rest, focus, and enjoy time with God. …can anyone else relate?

And there you have it. A few workouts, a few updates, and some exciting things to look forward to! What’s going on with you guys? Any good workouts to share, challenges of your own, or things you’re looking forward to? Lay it on me! πŸ˜€ Have a tangy, thankful and terriffic Thursday!

Live well & be well friends,

I’m right there with you on the food and snacking. Working out is such a JOY and never a burden – eating clean is a chore. Definitely a hurdle for me as well – you’re not alone!
YAY for vacation – so glad you’re getting some downtime to enjoy your husband and God’s creation! I’m doing a bit of that (as you know) and it’s just amazing to see God’s hand in my family!
Love you! And thanks again for the GP!

Great workout! You rock toes box jumps, they scare me! Working out is def not my problem but clean eating is a challenge! I am working on it!

    • Bon says:

Hey Toni! Start on something smaller and build your way up! You’ll get there for sure and soon be hopping up on boxes like nobody’s business! Keep working on that diet and eating well friend! πŸ˜€

  • lindsay says:

ditto on the snacking. sometimes its easier. Clean eating is nourishing for mind and body, i gotta remember that!
yay for CABO!! You guys deserve it!

  • Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says:

Food is the hardest thing for me too. The weather has been nice and that means too many patios and restaurant food/drinks. And I just love food. πŸ™‚

It’s cyclical for me though – I’ll be really disciplined for a while and then notsomuch. That’s balance, maybe…

    • Bon says:

Food’s the hardest thing for you too? Good to know – your eats always look so clean it’s hard for me to imagine you eating “badly.” πŸ˜‰ lol! Cyclical – exactly. And yes, maybe that is balance! Keep balancing and enjoy your weekend!

  • Nicole says:

That is so amazing that you get to spend time with your husband and family soon. You deserve a break! πŸ™‚ Good luck getting through the week!

Great post… love the photo with the SF bridge. Doing good over here… got a run in this morning and lunch with some good friends. That makes Thursday a win!

  • Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health says:

Wow that does sound like an intense schedule! But I’m sure it will be worth it once your in Cabo!! Sounds like you’re going to have an amazing time. It will be so nice to relax, enjoy time with family, and reconnect with God and yourself! That workout looks intense! Oh, and there are definitely times that I have a hard time with food. Although, lately it’s been the workouts because I think I’ve been pushing myself too much and my body isn’t liking it!

    • Bon says:

Thanks for your comment, Lindsay! I’m pumped to go away and spend some time with my family. πŸ™‚ Keep listening to your body and resting when you need it – then push hard when you’re able. πŸ˜‰ Have a great weekend!

  • Kristin says:

I have so many of the same feelings as those that you expressed in this post! For me, clean eating is definitely more challenging than working out. Exercising relieves my stress, makes me feel accomplished, and energizes me so it’s easy for me to sneak it in to a busy day. Eating clean and the right portions for my body? Not so easy. When I’m stressed and overwhelmed, I grab the quick snacks and often eat more than usual to calm my emotions. It’s a constant work in progress so I try to be gentle with myself rather than beating myself up about it. Secondly, when I read your comments about reading your Bible, I felt like you were speaking for me. I absolutely notice a difference in my outlook on life and the way I treat others when I take the time to read my Bible and spend time with God. It kills me that I sometimes let my Bible time slip since I know how much it means to me and how valuable it is to my relationship with God. I need to hold myself accountable on this one because it’s honestly the most important thing to me. Thanks for a great post!! πŸ™‚

    • Bon says:

Thanks so much for your comment, Kristin! What a joy it was to read (and so reassuring to know others are there in the same boat too). πŸ˜‰ Keep eating well and loving the Lord! Thanks for writing and have a great weekend, Kristin. πŸ˜€

ok did your workout today (modified a bit) I did 10 rounds of 15 KB swings (i dont have a KB so i used a 25# sandbag), 8 box jumps (on a chair), 75 jump ropes. I made it a time challenge and managed to complete it in 22:27. I started with a 10 sec. rest in b/t each exercise and then a coule rounds in I decided to push myself and go without the rest phase. I was. def. sweating by the end.
Thanks for an awesome workout. Enjoy your vacation.

  • Julia says:

Thanks for the workout idea. Didn’t feel like running in the rain so I adapted your workout for what I had and stayed in.
    – 90sec spin
    – 45sec box jump
    -45sec air squats
Some push-ups to finish off. Did the trick.
